Superintendant James Royan

Supt James Royan joined the Police in 1998, serving his formative years in Aberdeen and surrounding areas before transferring to the Edinburgh and Borders area of Scotland in 2007.  He has served in front-line operational posts in every rank throughout the country and has most recently been the Operations Superintendent in the Lothians and Scottish Borders Division, before moving to Events, Emergency and Resilience Planning.  Supt Royan now holds the national portfolio within Police Scotland for 'Events Policing' and is responsible for the developments of practice and policy within this field.  He is also a fully accreditated Event, Public Order and Firearms Commander and deploys in these roles on a regular basis across the country at significant events, protests and major incidents.
